2011 Conference Testimonials

I attended the Mayo Scottsdale Conference in February and have nothing but high praise for Doctors Mesa and Camoriano, all the other Specialists, Bob Niblack, Antje and Jim, Ian, and you, Bob.  It was just excellent, from the Friday luncheon, through the conference sessions, the breakfasts, break treats, lunch, and the Saturday evening reception!!

First, I wanted to say how much I enjoyed the Conference and thank you to those who worked so hard to make it happen! The speakers were both informative as well as funny - who knew!  Thank you!

Antje and Bob, you unobtrusively made sure that the conference went smoothly. My thanks again to you and to those helping you for a splendid conference, great in all respects, lectures, meeting with others, and that delicious, healthy food!

Hi Friends!
I just got home from the great conference!  Special thanks to Bob Niblack, Ian Sweet, Antje Hjerpe, Bob Swanson, and Dr. Ruben Mesa (and anyone I missed) for putting together such a wonderful event. The docs who come to these conferences are wonderful.  They seem candid during Q&As and are quite generous with their thoughts during breaks.  There is friendly sparring between Dr. Tefferi and Dr. Silver regarding first line treatment for PV (Dr. T favors HU and Dr. Silver favors Interferon). We got first-hand perspectives from England and France through Dr. Claire Harrison and Dr. Jean-Jacques Kiladjian, respectively.  It was wonderful to meet in person some of the people I feel I've come to know through this MPN listserv and the MPN chat. I returned home humbled and grateful to those who have lived with the MPNs for many, many years and patiently share their knowledge and encouragement to us frightened newbies.

It's been a week already since we've been back in Toronto, and Shim and I are still talking about what a wonderful experience it was for both of us to attend the MPN Conference. It far exceded our expectations.  It was so well-organized, in such a beautiful setting, and it was such a pleasure to meet the other people attending, as well as having an opportunity to hear the doctors and even talk to them one on one.  Thank you for all your work to make this all possible.

Attending the 2011 Joyce Niblack Memorial MPN Conference at Mayo Clinic Scottsdale was an amazing experience and I learnt so much. I thank all the wonderful Haematologists who generously gave up their weekend to share their knowledge with us. We are so lucky to have these talented, enthusiastic scientists  working so hard to improved the understand of MPNs and to develop better treatments for these conditions. I also extend a big thank you to all those who gave their time to plan and organize the conference and who helped to make it such a success. It was a great privilage to attend and wonderful meeting so many people with MPNs who have been through similar health experiences and challenges. After attending the conference I returned home to Melbourne, Australia feeling empowered by the knowledge I had gained and also very optimistic about the future treatment options which are being developed.
